DEAR Seminars will provide a platform for in-depth discussions on key issues related to the condition of democracy in the EU. Led by experts in their respective fields, the seminars will cover a range of topics including risks within the political and economic systems of the EU, national and transnational risks, and the role of digital platforms in democracy at risk.

The seminars will be open to a wide audience, including academics, policymakers, and the general public. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in lively discussions and debates, providing a forum for consensus-building and dialogue between the academic world and society.

Distance Learning

Distance Learning

The DEAR Distance Learning Programme is designed to provide flexibility and accessibility for individuals, who are unable to attend the Summer School or Seminars in person. Through a digital platform, participants will have access to lectures, workshops, and interactive discussions led by experts in the field.

The Distance Learning Programme will cover the same topics as the Summer School and Seminars, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of the risks that democracy within the EU faces. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with their peers and experts through online fora and discussion groups.

By the end of the Distance Learning Programme, participants will have gained a deep understanding of the risks facing the EU democratic condition, and the tools to analyze and measure these risks.

Summer School

Summer School

The DEAR Summer School is a dynamic and engaging Programme that will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the current challenges faced in the EU in terms of the condition of democracy. Through a multidisciplinary approach that combines political theory, international relations, and risk management, the Summer School will equip students with the tools to analyze and measure risks to democracy in the EU.

Over the course of the Programme, students will take part in lectures, workshops, and interactive discussions led by experts in their respective fields. The Summer School will also feature site visits to key institutions in the EU, giving students a firsthand look at the inner workings of European democracy.

By the end of the Summer School, students will have gained a deep understanding of the risks to democracy in the EU, and the tools to analyze and measure these risks.
